Plain language
Describe help in everyday words instead of requiring people to know program names.
A Luudwood community project
You do not have to understand the system to get help.
One Door is being built to make community support easier to find, understand and use—starting in Niagara.
The idea
Information about food, housing, benefits, mental health, safety and community services is often spread across many organizations and websites. One Door is intended to bring clear, reviewed pathways together in one welcoming place.
This project is not an emergency service and does not replace professional advice. It is a guide that helps someone understand possible next steps and reach the official organization providing the service.
Describe help in everyday words instead of requiring people to know program names.
Check suggestions against official provider or government information before publishing.
People can explore support without entering names, personal stories or case details.
Invite residents, providers and frontline workers to identify missing or outdated information.
Work in progress
The current prototype is organizing reviewed public information around the needs people describe most often.
Food banks, community meals and other food support.
Housing help, shelters and urgent local pathways.
Income, bill, disability and caregiver supports.
Mental health, substance-use and relationship support.
Settlement, language and community connections.
A searchable directory that can grow as resources are reviewed.
Community knowledge matters
Tell us about a public program, organization or useful website. Your suggestion will be emailed to the One Door review team. It will not appear publicly until it has been checked against an official source.
